Over many years I have tried network marketing with different companies and never really made great money, in fact with some of them you did a lot of work and only make a pittance, or 9 times out of 10 it would cost you more than you made. Their marketing plans making it hard for new people at the bottom to make anything. Some of their products were great, but if I am going to buy some clothes I prefer to go to a store try it on and if I don’t like it….I don’t have to package it up and send it back and wait for a refund.

How often do you look at a catalogue and go….gee that looks great… yet you go in to the story, try it on and it doesn’t suit you…or doesn’t fit nicely.

As I mentioned I had tried many networking opportunites over a period of 30 years, but a couple of years ago I happened across a new fruit at my local supermarket. As I walked into the store there was a sign straight in front of me ‘Miracle Fruit’. I asked a young guy stacking fruit nearby what it was, he didn’t know anything about them, or what part of them you ate. I bought 2 at $1.83 each and hoped they were going to be good for that price. They had stickers on them stating the name ‘Mangosteen’.

Went home and got on the internet. Was keen to know why they would label this ‘Miracle Fruit’.

Did a ‘Google’ search and came up with heaps of information on how this fruit was full of nutrition, but how it would be best taken as a juice made from the whole fruit as the skin (pericarb) was full of super anti-oxidants called Xanthones. I broke off some of the skin to try, but could not eat extremely thick and not chewable, however was extremely bitter.

At the time my daughter called me away as we were rushing out for an appointment, so never came across the juice as such on this occasion.

About four months later received a call from a person I had met 2 years earlier in Hawaii when I was with another company. When he called my first instinct was to say….”if this is networking…not interested”, but just as I was about to say it….something made me ask what it was. When he told me it was “Mangosteen Juice made from the whole fruit”…. I said come see me tomorrow.

After looking at the Company and their compensation plan joined and started taking the juice….the first thing I noticed was my energy levels went up. I was taking a very good brand of multivitamin at that time with little or no results. Within 2 days on this product I felt fantastic, my arthritis improved over weeks and at the time I also was taking Nexium for reflux…no longer needed to take this. Also noticed had no problems with hayfever as was a profound sufferer. Found also that I was sleeping much sounder, felt refreshed in the morning whereas previously …..slept well, but was tired when woke up and really didn’t feel like getting out of bed each day.

It’s with a very heavy heart I write this after watching news broadcasts of the devastation caused over this last weekend and beyond. The weather here had been extremely hot, in the high 30’s and over 40 degrees (Celcius) range for the last couple of weeks, plus the temperature goes above the forecasted temperature of low 40 degrees, reaching a new record high of 46.4, so everything in country areas is bone dry then add to the mix some deranged people that like to light fires and you have one hell of a disaster. People have not only lost their homes, belongings, pets or farm animals, but many have lost their lives as well. Others have lost everything they had. Whole towns have been wiped out. Many not insured.

Some had decided to leave, but before they even had the chance the fire had hit and their vehicles had gone up, or they got on the road only not to be able to see because of the black smoke and crashed into fallen trees or other vehicles.

Last month I was staying with relatives on a property in country Western Australia where temperatures were above the 40 degrees also. The day I arrived we saw smoke and found out there were a couple of fires, but both over 65 plus kms away. As they have had fire go through their property before, they are very ready for a fire emergency. Roof sprinklers, own water truck and fill station all set up, ready to spring into action if needed. However, prepared as they are, still gives you an uneasy feeling…. well it did me anyway.

I feel for these victims of the bushfires…..not easy to start off with nothing, no roof over your head no possessions and some grieving for loved ones as well. With the current financial crisis that people are suffering and now devastation from the fire, it will be hard for a lot of people to come back from this.

Just want to let you know I am here, just having a few things happening on the home front. Firstly, the great news… we celebrated 2 milestones for my beautiful granddaughter. Her 1st Birthday on Tuesday plus she is walking. So hard to believe that she is one already, that year has flown, but the enjoyment she has brought us is just something else. She is always smiling, laughing and dancing. She is an absolute joy. I’m sure all the grandparents out there can relate to that. It makes having children worthwhile, just to have the pleasure of the grandchildren.

Now the not so good news…nothing serious though….just some nasty tummybug getting around and it caught me. I think he has just about given up, well I hope so because I have put up a good fight. I’m sure I’ll be good as new by next week.

I was extremely saddened to hear that Rob Guest had a massive stroke on Tuesday night and then of his passing this morning. I have watched him in numerous stage productions and most recently saw him as the Wizard of Oz in Wicked. He was an amazing actor and of all his roles I think his role in Phantom of the Opera with Marina Prior was my personal favourite. His role in Phantom of the Opera went for over 7 years, he gave over 2300 performances. His death is a huge loss for Australian Theatre. After listening to a number of radio interviews from people connected to him through many different ways, I believe we have lost one beautiful human being. He was only 58 years old.
